First Visit (Consultation Appointment)

*All consultation appointments are free of charge*

The purpose of the consultation appointment is for you and Dr. O'Hea to meet and to determine your need and goals for orthodontic treatment.

At your first visit, you will meet Dr. O'Hea and our team. This appointment is approximately 20-30 minutes long. Dr. O'Hea will assess your teeth, face and jaws to determine if orthodontic treatment is recommended. The most important thing she will want to know is your specific concerns/goals for your smile.

For those patients who need and desire treatment, she will review your visual dental problems with you and discuss different treatment options that are available. Additionally, she will go over fees and estimated treatment times.

The appointment following the initial consultation is called the Diagnostic Records appointment. At this time, orthodontic photos, x-rays and models are taken. This information enables Dr. O'Hea to devise a specific treatment plan tailored to your needs. She will discuss this specific treatment plan with you at the end of the Records appointment.

We ask that you bring any dental insurance information to your first appointment, including the following:

  • Name of the policy holder
  • Name of the insurance company
  • Policy holder social security number and birthdate

If you have an insurance card, we also ask that you bring this to the appointment. However, we understand that some insurance companies do not issue cards. In that case, the above information will be sufficient. Our office will contact your insurance company for you to determine your eligibility and orthodontic benefits.

We look forward to meeting you at your consultation appointment. We encourage any and all questions that you may have.
